Haiti's North 2017
I recently returned from an exceptionally invigorating visit to Bethlehem Ministry's Haiti projects. For the past ten years, it has been my pleasure to as I have volunteered with the organization. On this trip I photographed two major projects, our K-12 school with 1000 students and the clinic, serving all regardless of financial circumstances. My primary purpose for this, my eighth visit to Haiti's north region, was to create photos for fundraising and promotion. Much of my time was dedicated to the school children, teachers and clinic staff. I also documented our home building projects and other activities in the area. One general comment. The north, a more sparsely populated region of farmland and small towns, was spared the damage from the earthquake six years ago and was not in the direct path of hurricane Matthew in October. Though in some ways a more vibrant community with new manufacturing facilities and a new university, Université of Haiti - Campus Roi Henri Christophe, it is located in the hemisphere's poorest country. To compare, per capita income in the US is $30,000 and in Haiti $400. For information about our thirty-five-year-old organization visit http://www.bethlehemministry.org/
